Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17458
Online help's Support link is *EMPTY*!!
Last modified: 2004-09-13 09:03:21 UTC
Hello, I was completely baffled and flabbergasted when I found out that the Online help's Support page is completely void and empty of any content, at least in the German version of OOo1.1RC2. And this with an Online help page that has a DIRECT link from the main Help menu!! Needless to say, this is completely unacceptable, since it reflects EXTREMELY poorly on the overall project (this was almost the first link that I selected in the whole program, and then such an extreme disappointment - imagine that!). Just imagine a CIO loading that program for the first time and checking out whether there are any Support options available... I'm sure he might actually vow to never ever consider using Open Source again. We all know that OOo is not as strongly "supported" as e.g. StarOffice, but this is by far no excuse to have an empty Support page in an almost-release version of the biggest Open Source office application. You could at least have written something like "at the moment, there are no special or commercial support options listed. However, a lot of great help can be found on the internet at ..., ..., ... . If you would like to have commercial-grade support, then you may buy StarOffice instead.". Not showing any kind of content here at all in a Release Candidate 2 is... [no comment]. Given that this kind of bug is much worse than a "normal" program bug, you may fix that: a) NOW b) immediately c) ASAP d) until tomorrow (you may choose 2 out of these 4) Please disregard this bug report if the Support page has been intentionally left blank during Release Candidate versions and was planned to be filled with content in the Final version... Anyway, despite this big screwup, many thanks for an otherwise extremely cool Office replacement! Keep up the good work! Andreas Mohr, Wine developer and random OSS hacker
wow wow wow ..... hard words. You could have much more developers being attrakted with shorter and more polite words! BTW.: Where did you get an german 1.1RC2 from? If it is really an german 1.1RC2, you must have built your own version and because the helpfiles are not part of the official codetree, it may be your own mistake. actually, it is a littel difficult to update the online help. If you like to discuss this, please join the documentation or german lang project. I confirm the issue, but set prio to 3 (this means, issue should be fixed within target milestone)
Reassign issue to owner of selected subcomponent.
Online Help was not updated before RC3.
No need to SHOUT.
Frank: actually RC3 (german) has a link to the support-project page, so I would set "works for me" and close.
set to workforme as suggested.
close issue.
