Description mintslice 2003-07-25 03:12:29 UTC
A client sent me the attached word file which I made a few edits (removed image
and then inserted a replacement) to and then exported to pdf.

The pdf works fine for me in xpdf, but they reported that the file didn't work
in Arcobat Reader 6, but after they downgraded to Acrobat Reader 5 it did work.

Might be worth noting that the only editing I did was to remove the
image in the header (which was too small and couldn't be easily
resized) and then inserted a new copy of the image (as a jpeg). This
image was then set to wrap around.

I also removed a couple of blank lines from the top.

There's been a few releases of OOo since I filed this bug, so in the
interest of staying current I've re-exported the dot-doc file to pdf
using both the optimise for screen and optimise for print options.

The size of the files are now very different.

ls -oa Donate_by_post* shows:

-rw------- 1 rodd 25088 Sep 17 10:08 Donate_by_post.doc
-rw------- 1 rodd 15142 Sep 17 10:10 Donate_by_post.pdf
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rodd 66646 Sep 17 10:13 Donate_by_post_print.pdf
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rodd 56898 Sep 17 10:14 Donate_by_post_screen.pdf

The first pdf is the oridinal in the bug report, the other two are the
new exports.

Note that the sizes are dramatically different and that the size of
both the new PDF's are now significanlly bigger than the original
dot-doc file. I know it's not related to this bug, but assuming that
the new pdfs are Okay (and I haven't heard any complaints about others
I've produced, but that isn't many) then it might be worth changing
this bug (or filling a new one) to look at why the file sizes are so
much bigger (when I would have hoped they would be smaller) than the
original doc file.

I'm going to change the resolution to FIXED.
