Description Unknown 2003-07-23 19:04:06 UTC
a serious problem of compatibility with M$ powerpoint:
If you insert images in powerpoint AS EXTERNAL LINK (in order to reduce file
dimension when several images are used), then crop them with a graphic
interface command, only the desired part of the picture is now visible.
If you open such a file in Impress the images are completely visible, but
resized (and with wrong proportions) in the space assigned during crop
operation in powerpoint: the file made in MS Office is not useable in
Openoffice.

on the other side: I found no problem exporting an OOo file (with cropped
linked images) in ppt format, then opening the file with Powerpoint.

Please see my attached files, thank you.

(Please excuse me if this issue was a duplicate, I have not found any issue
related to this problem)

I can reproduce the bug.
Please have a look.

The same things happens for me when images aren't externally linked
in powerpoint.
Comment 6 david_goodenough 2004-05-01 16:30:42 UTC
This same problem occurs with Word files edited using Openoffice Writer. I guess there is
common code for both components.

sj->ka: I don't know what's wrong, but if I am loading the document
"cropped_with_powerpoint_open_with_OOo.ppt" there is only a default graphic
visible. The linked graphic is not shown. If I now select the SdrGrafObj and
update the link via edit/links/update, then the graphic is shown, this means
that the url to the graphic is correct ..

The link is being set in svx/source/msdffimp.cxx with following code:
 if ( bSetFileName )
    ((SdrGrafObj*)pRet)->SetFileName( aName );

If you are out of time for this goody, then don't hesitate to send this issue
back to me or dbo.

Crop parameters are currently never read when loading linked graphics
(msdffimp.cxx). Even patching the code to read the crop params in this case
gives no cropping, since all crop params are set to 0. There needs to be some more
investigation by Sven. Problem that linked graphics are not initially displayed
at all, has been fixed on CWS svg03.
