Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17309
Drag and drop of query results fails in Spreadsheet
Last modified: 2006-05-31 14:29:06 UTC
Query results cannot be dragged and dropped to spreadsheet application when using ODBC and Interbase 6.01. Querying seems to work fine, but any attempt to move the results (by dragging the query name or top left corner of result table) leads to an error message: "field id (9) out of range". I am using the example database (Employee.gdb) of Interbase and Firebird/Interbase ODBC driver by IBPhoenix.

dear jms2oo, i checked this out and it works fine for me - to be shure about this topic i need a little help from you - could you please try this out: 1. please check the driver you can find under: http://www.ibdatabase.com/ibgem_21_eval.zip if the bug still occurs: 2. give me a hint, how the bug table is constructed - means: used fieldtypes and contents (please make it as small as possible) thanks chris
Dear Chris, With Gemini driver everything works, thanks. But still, the query seems to be executed OK also with Firebird driver (available for free). The results are correct as far as I know. Just dragging and dropping fails. Although this seems to be related to driver, not OpenOffice, could you please test with Firebird driver if you can reproduce the error? It is available at http://www.ibphoenix.com/downloads/OdbcJdbc- Snapshot.zip. Maybe you could then see the exact reason for the failure. - Jori
moin jori, sorry for the delay - can you please describe, how i can use this driver? i downloaded the 3 .dll files and can't find a description how to use them. thx chris
Dear Chris, The installation program must be loaded separately; it is http://www.ibphoenix.com/downloads/OdbcJdbc_InstallSnapshot.zip After installation you can copy the 3 .dll files to \windows\system32 directory and replace the older ones. I get the same error message with the most recent driver and OOo1.1 RC1. I do wish you could help... - Jori
moin jori, i tried, like you described it and both drag&drop possibilities work fine for me - must be another reason or influence 1. can you please try it with a final oo1.1.0 version 2. try it with a simple table (for me it looks like a dependency to the table construct) and give me a hint, how the bug table is constructed - means: used fieldtypes and contents (please make it as small as possible) - what field type is id (9) and what is the content? thx - hopefully this can bring us further
CLU->protocol: addition: i also tried the example database employee.gdb (included in driver pack) jori had the error with, by using his query (SELECT PHONE_EXT FROM PHONE_LIST WHERE PHONE_EXT>400) - he sended it in a private mail (i told him to use only oo) also jori told me, that he uses a current 1.1.0 oo version -> i still cannot reproduce the error jori describes (both d&d possibilities in calc worked fine) i suggested to reinstall the database engine and, if possible, try to repro this issue on another pc CLU->All: if anybody can repro this error, do not hestitate to add your comments
change subcomponent to 'none'
CLU->protocol: no reaction from jori or anybody else for over a month - so it looks like, that my suggestions for jori worked fine - looks like bug is outside the office
