Description lars 2003-07-22 18:21:05 UTC
detecting Java on Windows 98 isn't performed succesfully by OOo 1.1 RC
installer.

And the "enter manually" dialogue doesn't offer a "browse" button.

Wishes:

1). Auto-Detect Java correctly. Hint: %ProgramFiles%
\JavaSoft\JRE\<any_version_number>

2). offer a "Browse" button in the "enter manually" dialogue

3). Tell the user which functionality exactly is hampered when not using Java,
rather than just "some functionality may not work correctly"

P2 at least for the installation department.

this can make inexperienced users feel unnecessarily uncomfortable.

P1: a joke?
Bettina,
please have a look.

bh, lars: in 2.x it seems that 1) and 2) is actually implementing. 3) is not
feasible because you cannot really tell how much functionality will be missing
(extensions, UNO, grammar checkers, Base, what else?).

Closing as works for me. Reopen if you think 3) needs special treatment.
