Description gojgl 2003-07-20 10:35:02 UTC
I discovered the following "bug" in OO1.1RC.

Create new Datasource with Tools->Data Sources->New Data Source
Create either JDBC or ODBC connection to a database
Afterwards, press F4 or select View->Data Sources
OO1.1RC dies instantly.
At first I thought it is because I simply copied database information from
OO1.0.3 but have quickly discovered that this is not true. I tried the same
procedure on another machine with the same Linux distribution (SuSE 8.2) and
a brand new Data Source definition; the result was the same. Instant death of
the OO1.1RC after pressing F4.

Any ideas.

Regards

Bojan

Hi,

Please check what glib version you have. If it's 2.3.1 then the
problem is a knowing problem of this glib. Please set the environment
variable LD_BIND_NOW=1. Then please restart the office and then it
should work.

Unfortunately my system looks like this:

inventio@linux:~> rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.3.2-9
inventio@linux:~> rpm -q glib
glib-1.2.10-372

So the glib version is OK. Now, what about that env variable. Should
it be set anyway?

Hi,

I have another bug wich can be the same as yours.
16872

Please check if you have an icu package installed on your system as
mention in the above bug. I so please try to remove the package. If
you don't have such package, please let me know. And yes please try
the environment variable LD_BIND_NOW. Maybe it helps.

fs->msc: you dealt with it, so it should appear in your statistics :)
Comment 5 gojgl 2003-07-24 18:57:14 UTC
I did environment variable LD_BIND_NOW=1 and now OO1.1RC does not
die when pressing F4. But only if I made abrand new datasource
definition. If I copy
OpenOffice.org1.0.3\user\config\registry\instance\org\openoffice\Office\DataAccess.xml
into OO1.1RC, the same problem occurs. Now I wonder how to transfer
data definition and/or querries from OO1.0.3 into OO1.1 without the
annoying side effect.

Hi,

I can't reproduce the issue with the crash after copy the DataAccess
file to my OOo 1.1 version.

Do you have any more info?

Bye Marc
