Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test
it.  (Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

After investigation this bug depends on Windows Display Appearance 
setting. It may be specific to Win XP Home, I cannot test on other 
versions.
How to reproduce :
1 Open a Basic IDE window
2 Open in Windows : Display Properties, tab Appearance
2.1 Windows and button : Windows classic style
2.2 Color scheme : test one setting, click Apply, see the results on 
Calc, test another setting, etc. Some schemes display OK, some display 
unreadable tabs.

this is a duplicate of the issue you reported i set this here as 
duplicate and have to say: this is a wontfix sorry
