Description Unknown 2003-07-19 00:39:50 UTC
This problem appeared when I installed 1.0.3.
When I open XLS files, the top spacing in cells is non existent. When I print
the spreadsheet the cell contents are cropped off making the characters T 7
unreadable.
Comment 1 terryt 2003-09-01 21:40:04 UTC
Does this happen with all xls files, or just some? What specific fonts are you
using? I assume the same files look fine in MS Excel/Office.

I did open a random xls file that I have lying on my disk, and I can see some
characters are cropped at the top of the cell. But I would rather have a specific
example of the problem from you, so we can know when the problem has
been fixed. Could you please attach a sample xls file, along with a list of fonts
you used (and any other useful infomation regarding format/printing), and
perhaps a screen shot of the problem.

What are the printer details - make, model, driver name/version, etc?

Added oooqa keyword.

Just to re-validate, I did a fresh install on my iBook with Fink installed XDarwin. I
created a new Spreadsheet. Entered the text 'Testing 123' in a cell and put borders
around the cell. The font is Helvetica 10.

See Attachment for screen capture.

I have not set up any printers for OO so it will just have the default settings.

Note: the other box that I originally noticed the bug was running Apples X11 v0.3.

Unfortunately no screen dump was attached. But your
description is probably enough to reproduce the problem.
Comment 4 terryt 2003-09-05 10:13:31 UTC
The problem is not specific to spreadsheets. I can reproduce the

same basic problem with a text document, using Helvetica 10,

with XDarwin v4.2.1.1 and OOo 1.0.3 (OOo 1.1rc4 actually seems

worse).

It sounds like a problem with the Font support in the Mac OS X

version (or the font itself), so I have changed the component,

and the bug title to be more relevant. (was Top "Spacing to grid

lines" compacted when opening xls).

I'm not a font person, so hopefully someone else with more

knowledge could investigate further.
