This looks like a bug, can you report it in the OpenOffice bug trackign
system, so that it might be fixed for 1.1 final  ?

Yes, I get the same behavior, and I just marked another bug as
duplicate of this, so it is a serious issue.

HI-TM: Seems not to be a word processor problem. The dublicate one
occurs in calc.
Comment 4 thorsten.martens 2003-08-26 11:15:11 UTC
TM:Will have a look at this problem.

TM->MAV: As talked about, I set you as owner. Thanks !
Comment 6 mikhail.voytenko 2003-09-03 11:27:58 UTC
MAV->ABI: The problem is that file content based on the link can not
be copied successfully by 'transferContent()' call. Sending to you as
discussed.

I have the same problem, and I'm using 1.1RC3 under Red Hat 9.
Comment 8 craiglawson 2003-12-02 00:35:52 UTC
I see the same problem in 1.1.0 (final) on Red Hat 9.

Symbolic links are tricky. What do do about it? My vote is:
1. Create a backup file in the directory containing the link, and
2. When saving the file, follow the link and write into the actual
file, and preserve the link.

Also consider the effect on linked graphics in the word processor or
drawing file. See Bug 23072
