Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16993
RFE: button to switch even pages place in page preview (page 1 on left or right side)
Last modified: 2003-11-13 17:03:26 UTC
sometimes the first page is on the left side next to the second page, sometimes it is alone on the right side. More precisely the first case is standard but one can click "1 page back" which results in the second case which is then difficult to undo. This should not be the case. The first page should ALWAYS be on the left side. Additionally ooder an icon for "rotate pages" so that one can have -if 1,2;3,4;5,6 are paired eg 4,5;6 paired. And also to have the last page in case of odd number of pages be together with a second page. But then also be able to change ths back.
Lars, thank you for using and supporting OOo. Does this problem still exist in the latest version of OOo? If so, can you provide a document and step by step instructions to reproduce this error?
In OOo1.1RC (win98) the first page is always left, so far as I have noticed. But I don't agree with Lars, that this is the correct way. When I format a page with 'only right' I want to see it on the right side in the preview. But this contradict to those who use the preview to put two pages on one sheet of paper. I agree to Lars, that a button to toggle whether odd pages are left or right, can solve the problem.
Yes, I just checked too. OOo 1.1 RC does it the way I like concerning "When I format a page with 'only right'...": what does this option do exactly?
exactly? - I don't know, I am a user, not a developer. I use this for doublesided documents like books, where the right, odd side needs a different style than the left, even side; e.g. pagenumbers have to be on the outside margin which means right on right sides and left on left sides.
I see...
I use OO to create a small-print magazine, and would like to be able to see facing pages next to each other. This was possible with OO 1.0.1 and build 643c, so I would call the current behaviour a regression.
