Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1688
After successful net installation, individual workstation installation hangs
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:35:10 UTC
Please forgive me if this bug/feature is correctly reported. We successfully installed the OpenOffice.org638 binaries, with -net as root, on our server (Enterprise 250 running Solaris 8). We then cross mount (read-only) the installation directory to local client workstations (Sun Ultra 5/10 running Solaris 8). Individual users have successfully run the OpenOffice setup command from within the cross-mounted installation directory. Reguardless of choosing the Workstation install or the Local install. OpenOffice will run if users did the Local installation, but hangs if users did the Workstation installation. You will see the OpenOffice logo at the start-up of ./soffice in both cases. For security reasons, we only cross mount directories from server as read-only. Any assistance would be appreciated. If you need additional information, please contact me. Thanks in advance.
Hi Christof, on 'marc' I've created a folder for OOo -net installation. I've mounted this directory on 'dali'. Installation of workstation runs fine, but won't start. A full install of the -net installtion works. Not reproducible in current inhouse version. Any clues?
Please try the following things: Mount the source directory to a directory with the same name. Set the hostname of the computer correctly. Create a stacktrace with a debugger.
Hi Frank, is seems as if soffice wants to create directories on the serverside. Due to the fact that this isn't allowed, the soffice start seems to freeze. I hope that I have create this truss file as an attachment, otherwise you can find the LOG file on 'tausch'.
Dirk, I think Olaf states that this is a configuration problem - where I was involved in one of my earlier lifes I think :)
Hi, this is a problem that is already fixed and will be integrated in the 641 build. To workaround your problem please checkout configmgr/source/xml/pathhelper.cxx in revision 1.8 . Don't worry about the revision comment. The problem is fixed in a later version completely and in a much cleaner way. If there still problems, please let me know. - Dirk
