Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16835
Hanges the Computer
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
The path so some components in the file system of windows 95 is to long. Specifically when the fast startup component is running the machine will hang. Upon running scandisk from windows found a path longer then 66 characters. Mozilla has the same issue when running with the fast start option under windows 95. After looking at the file system used by open office I found very long folder names. Names that are do not need to be so long. When coding paths for files reduce the length of the paths. This will also improve performance of the software while running.
I can't reproduce: Scandisc runs fine on my Win95 box. BTW: we don't support Win95 for OOo 1.1. Quoted from the readme: System Requirements: * Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT (Service Pack 6 or higher), 2000 or XP * Pentium compatible PC * 64 MB RAM * 250 MB (CJK version: 300 MB) available hard disk space * 800x600 resolution or higher, at least 256 colors
