please extend OOo by the functionality to have often used "special characters" 
(Sonderzeichen) be listed in a pop-up field when long-clicking on sp.ch. icon 
and be listed in a submenu of the context-menu when editing text (writer, in a 
calc cell, ...).

Btw.: the cp.ch. icon is a seperate icon on my left toolbar already and not a a 
subicon of a "category icon" anymore.

So the number of steps to get them are even more reduced

Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1 Final , you can download it from
www.openoffice.org
many bug fixes and enhancements since your version and 1.1 Final . If the
problem still happend in 1.1 please report back. or try OOo 1.1.1a (not final
version yet) 
It maybe not yet solve your Issue, but it worth to try.

Lars.. First, sorry for the very delayed response. Can you give step by step
instructions to show what you are referring to? I understand English is probably
not your first language, but the more detail we have as far as what you expect
to see (or would like to see) and what you are actually seeing now, the better
we'll be able to get your issue to the right person. Thanks.

I'd like to be presented with a list of recenly used 'special characters' 
which I can select then to be inserted into the document at the carets 
position when I click on an icon which is specifically designed for this 
purpose. So add an icon underneath which is displayed a list of recently 
used 'special characters' when clicking on it, This requires special icon 
functionality which is able to put a pop-up-menu/list box under the icon when 
clicki´ng on it. 'special characters' are a feature of OOo found to be 
somewhere in the menus.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

Ajust Priority from P2 to P3

P2 are important Bugs like Crashs, Freeses and nasty regressions who make parts of the programm unusable. This is not the case for this one.

IMHO better extend Insert - Special Character -> pi sigma etc (MRU based) more... 
than mimic MSO.

Enhancing that dialog would be another enhancement, feel free to open a bug if there isn't one already reported.
