Description Unknown 2003-07-14 14:15:05 UTC
exporting a file to pdf and afterwoods importing in for Acrobat Read for Palm
OS runs into an errormessage and aboting of converting process.
Repro:
Load OpenOffice 1.1 RC, load any text, (should be more than one page), export
it as pdf-file. Settings for exporting are not relevant, but should be the
whole text.
Now switch to "Acrobat Reader for Palm OS" and try add this exported pdf-file
to the list of files for the Palm.
After adding, there will be a warning that this is not a "tagged" PDF-File.
Continue with klicking on the "OK" Button. Immidiatly after there will be an
errormessage saying: "error in converting to the tagged pdf-format,
pagestructure could not be read" and the converting is aborted.

Expect:
Full compatible pdf-format which could be used from any other pdf-enabled
application, especially from adobe !!
Comment 1 christof.pintaske 2003-07-14 18:33:02 UTC
OpenOffice.org provides a fully compatible pdf-format which could be
used from any other pdf-enabled application, including but not limited
to Adobe.
Providing PDF tags is by no means required in the PDF standard, but an
optional feature. If "Adobe Acrobat Reader for Palm OS" crashes on
reading untagged PDF documents then you may want to consider filing a
bug report against it.

CP->MMP: Do you take care of PDF RFEs ? Please push this one on the
stack for 2.0

this will go into the PDF spec for OOo 2.0
Comment 3 Unknown 2003-10-08 23:13:54 UTC
Acrobat reader for palm os consists of two parts: the converter
(windows application) and the palm application. It is the converter
that shows the problem, and I suspect there actually is a problem with
the PDFs generated by OO. No other untagged PDF file that I have come
across has shown this error message.
Comment 4 matthias.mueller-prove 2003-10-27 18:49:26 UTC
Yes, cf. http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/pdf_export/KickOffOct2003.sxw
Comment 5 philipp.lohmann 2003-11-19 17:59:22 UTC
FYI: we have worked out with Adobe's help what the actual problem of
the palm conversion tool is and will build in a workaround for the
problem. The issue for that is issue 22452.
