Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1660
winword filter bug (loss of russian/lithuanian characters on export)
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
When I save Writer document as winword file I lose Lithuanian (and Russian too) characters. I see ? instead of all Lithuanian characters.
Reassigned to MRU.
I cannnot reproduce this here with the WinWord 97/2000/XP Filter. Do you use the WinWord 6.0 or WinWord 95 Filter? Then it does not surprise me, because these two filters do not support Unicode characters. Please check it out end give your (additional) comment.
Word 97/2000 filter works very well. I have problems with winword 6 filter. What difference between converting from Unicode to RTF and from Unicode to Word 6? I know that Unicode->RTF works very well.
That´s easy to explain... WinWord 6 (also 95) does not support Unicode at all, so the file file format isn´t either... RTF is updated continuously by MS, it is unicode capable. Due to this facts I think no one disagrees with closing this issue.
Closed.
I can't agree with definition CLOSED. Without proper export to unicode unaware formats it's unable to use OOO as the only office program (we must use Word). E.g. it's impossible to place text into QuarkXpress, PageMaker, FrameMaker, etc.
There is something of a possibility of a solution for this.
This is the same as issue 12445. There isn't a solution right now, but in the near future I hope to come up with one. Just setting this to duplicate of 12445 to let you know that it's not forgotten about. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 12445 ***
Closed as duplicate. Have #12445 in mind to stay informed about progress.
