Description Unknown 2001-09-07 22:48:27 UTC
In the text document of the Open Office, whenever any thing is highlighted
using the highlighter, the highlighting can’t be deselected, unlike other text
document supporting softwares.

step 1: Type something on the editor.

step 2: Highlight the selected text by clicking on the highlighter
button.

step 3: Now try to dehighlight it, you can't.

Still a problem with the 641 build (Win2K). The help file says a
highlighting toolbar is supposed to show up that lets you unhighlight
and change highlight colors. But none does.

Same problem for text color.
Comment 3 edsuom 2002-02-22 21:18:24 UTC
Even more alarming, I can't delete the highlights created by
openoffice (and non-removable there) *using MS Word*!!! Now, what is
it doing to the .DOC file to cause *that*?

This should not be assigned to bug reporter.

maybe a dumb question, but what is a 'highlighter' where do I find
this button?
If you refer to the text-color-Button, just select 'automatic' and the
color is set back to the standard-color of the paragraph. Same for
background-color, just select none and the color disappears...

Behind the "Highlighing" button, there is a colour palette for text
background. If you click it and hold the mouse button for a while, you
will see it. By clicking into it, you can select a colour for the text
you have currently selected. It will be applied and the pallette
window will dissapear again, giving the button the recently applied
colour as new default. Now when clicking the button, the new colour
will be applied to selected text. The palette can be "ripped off" as
well by dragging it into the document by its title bar. Then it will
remain visible (to ease applying various colours throughout a document).

If you want to remove the background colour for a text area, select
the text, open the palette, set to "no fill" and the background colour
is gone. You may as well select text and choose "default" from the
context menu. This will remove ALL text formatting so that the text
will change back to what is defined in the currently used paragraph style.
I can see no bug here. Can anyone?
