Description Unknown 2001-09-01 21:26:22 UTC
When trying to run the setup binary under RH7.1 and KDE I get the install screen
and click next, at which time the computer completely locks up. The only way I
can get it back is by cold booting the machine.

OOo 638 is runnig fine on my RH 7.1.
Please give me more information about your computer.
Which hardware combination do you have, is your RH7.1 modified
(e.g. kernel update, new KDE).

"When trying to run the setup binary under RH7.1 and KDE..."
OOo installation runs under gnome?

Hi Tom,
there is a thread in openoffice.discuss: OpenOffice for Linux Installation crash.
There are some good hints about problems with S3 chips on graphic devices. The linkfrom Micheal isn't working but leads into the right direction: http://www.michaelminn.com/linux/toshiba2755.html#section13.1.1
I hope this could help.
