Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15858
Backward search identfies wrong text
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
Searching backwards finds the correct text but highlights an area the is shifted one character to the left. When replacing text it is the highlighted text that is replaced indicating that the highlighting code has not failed, but the code that marks the selected text.
Hitting Control-F, checking the backwards option, and searching through a text document highlights just the word searched for for me.
Created attachment 7070 [details] Problem MS document
The problem seems to be file-specific. I have another file that behaves correctly. However, I have managed to contract the problem file down considerably and will attach. Interestingly, the problem is only present if I read from MS format. backward searching the problem file is fine after saving and trying with OO format.
On my XP system, I couldn't get the problem to appear on the file you attached. I also created my own document in Word and tried it on that, and couldn't get it to appear. I also tried putting sentences in quotes since wordcount isn't handling that correctly in the Beta2, but to no avail. Maybe someone else can reproduce this?
i opened the problem document with ooo 1.1 b2, win2000 sp3, find no problems. Backwords search worked as it was supposed to, including highlighting.
Sorry about this. It was my fault. Found that although I had beta 2 installed, I was actually still using beta 1. Beta 1 has the problem, beta 2 has it fixed. I have changed the resolution to INVALID (hope that is the right one).
