Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15540
Wrong encoding on pasting lithanian text as DDE link.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
1. open attached document with lituanian symbols. 2. copy / paste special / DDE Link. Result ? marks instead some lithuanian symbols.
Hi vytis, thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice... Please attach the sample document... :)
reassigned to mci
Created attachment 9565 [details] example made with OO 1.1.0 rc4
this is still not fixed on OO 1.1.0 rc4. (look to attachment) i think, problem is that DDE Link is beeing pasted (or shown) with encoding iso 8859-1.
the same in OO 1.1.0 But i noticed on more thing, after i opened document attached to this issue, i did not found any link. Should I post it as separate bug?
Hi vytis, I opened your sample document with OOo1.1 final and didn't get any "?" in the first line (heading1)... I didn't get a link... And please send a new Issue for the missing link... set to worksforme... If there's no new comment regarding the lithanian text this Issue will be closed on 10/29/2003...
Steps to reproduce: 1. open Text document 2. write text with lithuanian symbols (i think, it can be any character from non iso-8859-1 charset). 3. copy / paste as DDE link. 4. BUG: DDE link as with not lithuanian characters 5. save document with DDE links 6. close document 7. open the same document 8. BUG: There is no DDE links.

This is the reason, why i cannot attach document with this issue example.
second bub i posted as http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=20885
Hi vytis, i took a closer look to your document and then I saw: the link is there, you can see it by pressing [ctrl][F9]: But the target of the link isn't reachable (Untitled1, element DDE_LINK1)... So I took a new document and inserted the header of your document, inserted a new section called DDE_LINK1 and then the link worked... You're right, some symbols are replaced by "?"... I'll attach the document...
Created attachment 10140 [details] missing file for the link
reassigned to us @ us : we talked about this... First I thought the (empty) link was a protected space...

Adding oooqa
us->mru: I guess the cause is a wrong understanding of DDE links. Can you help pls.
MRU->OS: it looks like that when the Field "DDE link" is used, the field is not able to process unicode symbols. Take the first attachment of this issue. There, select the first line and copy to clipboard. Via "Paste special", paste the content at the end of the document. There, the DDE field containing "?" instead of lithuanian symbols will be inserted. When copying the whole document content and using section for displaying the DDE link, everything works fine.

Dear developers, please consider this bug. Thanks a lot for your attention. WBR, Kirill Palagin.
