Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15495
Crash when opening big documents
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:44:28 UTC
Writer freezes a few seconds after opening a big document (e.g. more then 20 pages). If you switch directly to the online layout the crash can be avioded (if you are fast enough). The crash does only occur after opening a document and not while writing a document.
HI->jmatthes: I test already several big documents and it works. Can you reproduce it with one doc with special contents or with every doc. May you give me an URL where I can get such doc.
Unfortunately I can't give you the documents because they are confidential. I'm still using OO 1.1 but it crashes with almost every document which is larger then 10 pages. Most of these documents where created with OO 1.0.1 or 1.0.3. (maybe this is the reason why you cant reproduce the crash) The crash can be avoided when changing immediatly to the online view after opening the document. In special cases the pagecount in the statusbar of OO has an endless loop (it counts and counts and counts.. ..)
I've built an 340 pages doc with OO 1.0.1 It contains Headings, Tables, graphics and OLE Objects. Opened with OO 1.1 Beta2 = it works. To help you, I must be able to reproduce the crash. Just build a not confidential doc where you still can reproduce the crash and provide it to me. Else I must close this issue as worksforme.
Ok I got it. The template is built with OO 1.0.3 641_8584 and it hangs by loading with OO Beta2 644_8600. It doesn't occur with current 645RC Version, so we can see this issue as fixed. Jan, your workaround is to load the templates with OO 1.0.3 and save it as an *.sxw file. Load the sxw file with OOBeta2 and save it there as a template. I'll forward this to our developer as information.
HI->MIB: When you open the file ../hi/issues/Angebot EURO.stw with OOBeta2, Office hangs off. Open with OO1.0.3 is ok. May you check this behavior. Please send this issue back to me after you've confirmed the problem.
I accnot reproduce it as well
Verified with 645m7_8640 = ok
