Description pratesi 2003-06-01 18:13:28 UTC
I am using Mandrake Linux 9.1.

Nimbus fonts (e.g. Nimbus Roman No9 L) are available and antialiased
both on the OOo 1.0.2 of the MDK 9.1 distribution and on the OOo 1.1beta
official precompiled binary version downloaded from openoffice.org

Alas, Nimbus fonts are not detected by the OOo 1.1beta2 official
precompiled binary if I use the Writer component.
Furthermore, it seems that instead the same fonts are detected by OOo 1.1beta2
for the Impress, Calc, and Draw modules, but they are no more antialiased
:-(((

I observed the same error with SuSE 8.1.

It is possible to choose a Nimbus Font in Writer by entering the full
name into the font selection field. But then the fonts are still not
antialiased.

These Fonts are very important because on SuSE Linux these are good
replacements for the non scalable Helvetica, Times and New Century
Schoolbook (and also the non existing Thorndale).

How is it possibly to change the status to confirmed?
Can this only be done by the person to whom the Issue is assigned to?

I have some problems opening documents in OOo 1.1 Beta2 that were
created with OpenOffice.org 1.0.1. These documents contain a frame
with text from top to bottom. The text appears shifted on the screen.

Because the problem seems only to occur when the Nimbus Fonts are used
I think it belongs to this issue.

The problems with the Nimbus Fonts and also with the Text from top to
bottom are only in OpenOffice.org 1.1 Beta2 not in 1.1 Beta. So I
think the bug went into the code just recently.

I will also attach a OOo-Document created with OOo 1.0.1 and a
screenshot showing OOo 1.1 Beta2 with this doument opened.

Best Regards

hello guys,

i've the same problem with the TrueType font "Franklin Gothic" under
Suse linux 7.3. the font is selectable in all other OpenOffice
components except Writer. If i select the font or open a (word-)
document which uses this font the characters are *NOT* displayed and
the document is fairly empty. as said in all other components e.g.
IMPRESS, CALC the fonts could be used without problems.

cheers
