Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15068
DEV C++ is written as ++dev C, with ++ fonts slightly skewed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:02:39 UTC
Writing the Term Dev C++ in a R2L paragraph in MS-Word and importing it to OOo1.1Beta2 is rendered as ++Dev C, where the ++ font is defected and is overlapping the "Dev" word. Check the included .doc file.
Created attachment 6517 [details] an RTF file demonstrating the problem
the problem also exists with a single plus when typing it in the OOo in any rtl paragraph. any + simply overlapps previous word even if it's a space. I'm "using the Times New Romans" font but it seems to happen with any font. The one exception is 1+2 or such an experession in which this doesn't happen, please fix it it's a major bug
DL->HDU: Would you please takeover?
looks duplicate to issue 13108 to me *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 13108 ***

13108 has been fixed in the cws vcl11 but this bug still occures in the same cws.
Reassign to pl
how sad
pl->ssa: thanks for taking over
The order of weak RTL characters is only dependend on the current writing direction of the paragraph, so if it is right-to-left, weak characters (the +-signs) are written to the left. Unless they are enclosed in characters that have a strong direction, in which case they will use the same direction as those chars. Because we cannot determine the input language in a cross platform way, that's how it works. MS seems to examine the input locale to make a decision but we don't. The overwriting of characters by the +-signs cannot be reproduced here. SSA->CGU: please close if agreed and/or contact FME about the direction of weak rtl characters.
The overlapping is fixed in the latest internal version and will be available in the OOo1.1RC. According to SSA and FME we can't change the behaviour of the weak signes. PLease write a feature request about this behaviour.
I close the issue. Please reopen it if the bug (overlapping) still occures in the OOo1.1RC.
