Description Unknown 2003-05-23 21:27:14 UTC
This bug exists in OpenOffice.org 1.1 Beta for both Windows and Linux. If you
create a simple table and then paste into it some text that spans multiple
pages, the lines after the first page do not wrap onto additional pages because
tables to not seem to be able to grow beyond one page in length in Writer documents.

In Linux the application would also generate a system beep whenever I tried to
scroll the document.

This issue came up when importing a Word document, which does support multi-page
tables, and can be replicated by either trying to create a long table in Writer
or by creating one in Word and then opening the .DOC file in OOo.

The ability to do this would be useful to some people. In this case a user I
was trying to convert from MS Word on Windows to OpenOffice.org Writer on Linux
wanted to create a long two-culumn table in a document so that he could create
text in the left column and add special notes in the right column (a la
Shakespeare or the Bible) throughout a multi-page document. Yes, not the way
I'd do it either but a bug nevertheless.

this is a design limitation of writer, but actually Tables can span
multiple Pages, Cells cannot, so I changed the Summary.

Implementation for tables in writer would undergo a redesign in OOo
2.0. So this is a "known" problem. But I did not find an Issue for
this, so I confirm.
