Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1474
Crashed after attempting to load and/or insert a .PPS file
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:54:41 UTC
I attempted to read a .PPS file I have received using Presentation. Nothing seemed to happen when the file loaded. OO crashed when I attempted to Exit from it.
Created attachment 451 [details] Dr Watson file showing the crash
I have uploaded the DrWatson file. As the .PPS file is sexually explicit, I feel I shouldn't post it; I'll be happy to e-mail it, if necessary.
Hello Peter, please send that file as attachment of this issue. We need it because other pps-docs don´t crash. If you think, it´s too explicit, you can exchange the content by another one.
I did not create the file, so I don't think I can change the content. If you know how to do that without altering the headers, please let me know. I have no information on what the layout of the file should be. I would not mind posting sexually explicit material as an attechment to this issue, but I doubt such an action would be acceptable, given that there is no mechanism in place to keep minors from accessing it. Perhaps there's a way to make the just this attachment inaccessible to non-registered browsers. I strongly suggest e-mailing the complete file it as an attachment to you (Bettina), or perhaps the (future) assignee of this issue, so you and your colleagues can work on it. Please let me know if you agree.
Hello Peter, you can send it as mail.
Sent file to Bettina, as requested.
In version 638c the file crashes at loading in Impress. Power Point also can´t load it "Power Point cannot open the fils of type ...pps". Other PPS-files can be opened in Impress without problem. Sven you get that file also as mail.
Hello Sve, in addition: that file had not crashed in a 5.2.
Hello Peter, currently I am not able to fix this bug, because the file you sent to Bettina seems to be corrupt in some ways. It could not been loaded neither by PowerPoint nor OpenOffice. I examined the document and find out that the tail is missing. The file I got is tarzan.pps with a size of 108.544 Bytes. What I need is a file that could been loaded by PowerPoint 97 upwards. It might still be possible that this file is a product of a transmission error. Regards, Sven
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
