Description magrawal 2003-05-16 19:29:55 UTC
Would it not be great if we could use the drawing module to draw ERD diagrams.
All that is needed in addition is another theme with the necessary tools.

A related wishlist item would be to have draw connect to a database using
database access tools and create the tables and constraints based on the ERD -
something like a CASE tool.

Reassigned to Bettina.

I'm looking for this very functionality. Being able to use Draw to compose ER
diagrams would be a definite plus.

Microsoft Visio does that (reverse engineering of current databases, create
diagrams, update databases from diagrams and generate complete sql corresponding
to diagram).

On Linux, I use dia uml, tedia2sql and zongle for that (specific to Postgresql).
Could Draw generate sql for a specific database if it has a native driver for
it? (mysql, pgsql)

This functionality would be great, but I'm not marking the request as new,
letting an official OOo person to do that if it's appropriate (maybe it's out of
OOo scope)

I would love to start to use Draw for more ERD and UML like diagrams. A great
first step would be to get some more line endings, or at least the ability to
have unfilled polygons for arrow types. The best I have been able to do so far
is a crows foot line ending:

<draw:marker draw:name="Crows_Foot" draw:display-name="Crows Foot"
svg:viewBox="0 0 101 101" svg:d="M 100 0 L 50 100 0 0 43 60 50 0 57 60z"/>

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

Additional line ends

Find some additional line ends in the attached file. Put the file into your config folder. You can then load it in the line arrow style definition tab of the line property dialog. If you need them often, you can backup the standard.soe file and rename the attached file as standard.soe.

I think, that this is connected to issue 10547 and should be closed in favor of issue 10547, which has already got 206 votes.
