Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14548
Separate printing of graphics and text
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:13:20 UTC
I did my diplomar thesis with OpenOffice.org and am now going to print it. As document will be published and available in a library, I would like to print it in the best quality possible. I do not have access to a color laser printer, so I had the idea to print the black and white text of my document (including headers, etc.) on a laser printer and the colored screenshots and graphics on a color inkjet printer. There is no need for a high precision, as there is always enough space between graphics and text. Right now I'm doing this by editing the document in Acrobat and deleting text or images and print it. I can't be the only one looking for this feature and could be a nice enhancement for the future (and all those poor students without a color laser printer).
SBA: Reassigned to Bettina from the User Experience team for consideration.
I think your reason is to save the ink. you must add more info, who else maybe need this kind of feature, so the OOo can consider that this is useful feature, to be implemented in next OOo
With a workaround the function you would like to have integrated is possible with current OOo 2.0.2 To only print the text simple deselect graphics in the File->Print->Options->Contents To only print the pictures select "Notes only" in the same Options dialogue. Issue can be closed with WORKSFORME
Having it as WORKSFORME does not make it any more transparent for the user. I propose to leave this issue open until this has been clarified in the user interface or the documentation, or rejected as not worth mentioning for people.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
