Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14193
Calc crashes on save
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:55:29 UTC
On an Athlon XP 1800, nforce chipset, Mandrake 9.1 with Nvidia drivers and OpenOffice.org-1.0.2-7mdk. After building a multisheet spreadsheet with cross sheet references and calculations which I have saved multiple times I get to a point where the smallest change (e.g. enter one number in a cell) followed by a save causes calc to crash. I have managed to save-as to Excel format once but this doesn't allow reloading and saving without seeing the same problem. Other save-as have crashed also. There is a temp file left behind by the calc crash. I was seeing this problem in calc on Mandrake 9.0 on the same system prior to upgrading to 9.1 I loaded a slightly earlier version of the same file into same version OS and calc on an Omnibook 6000 (P!!!M 650), attempted to replicate the series of changes but have not seen the same behaviour.
The closed-source Nvidia drivers are known to cause problems. According to other users, switching to the nv drivers will probably solve your problem. See issue 13685. I'm going to mark this bug as a duplicate of that one for now. However, if you can submit a symbolic crash dump of the problem happening, perhaps we can reopen this bug and do something about it. See http://www.kegel.com/openoffice for how to generate a symbolic crash dump. Thanks! *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 13685 ***
