Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13970
templates not obvious (calc)
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:55:29 UTC
A new calc document does not pick up a template unless it is opened via the new/templates route, where the choices are not very obvious. If a template is present, then it should automatically be used from new/spreadsheet and from the "new document" icon on the toolbar; if more than one template is present, then the user should be presented with a choice. Or perhaps more of the obvious settings (page size, font, margins) should be set from tools/options/spreadsheet, which would be simpler and probably achieve 95% of the same ends. Many thanks, Bernard Moreton Writer appears to work much better, and I can't quite see why since I haven't set any template for it!
Hi Bernard, as the underlying concept for Calc and writer is the same, it can't work better in this case. To make a document the default template, just promote it to such. How to do this can be found in the Help system using default template as the search keys I think. If you have more than one template you want to choose from, just select From template out of the file new menu. If you have placed such template into the path there OOo is searching for such things (select the path under tools options paths) you will be prompted to open a document based on your template. So I close this one as worksforme. Frank
