Tabulators get srewed up when saving to DocBook. For example:

before_3_tabs			after_3_tabs

becomes:

before_3_tabsafter_3_tabs

AFAIK tab-stops are not part of docbook to separate format from content, see 
http://www.mail-archive.com/docbook@lists.oasis-open.org/msg04026.html

Nevertheless I transformed the tabstops to 8 whitespaces, no way to find
scalable amount from XML side and addressed texts (Spaces) as well.

Actually I simply reused the XHTML whitespace handling.

Works with CWS XSLTFILTER08 patch.

Test scenario: 

1) Open/save testdocument of i30494 "haandbog-1-1-0.sxw". 
In the end of the documents tabs had been used.
Remember docbook uses no styles in general or TABS in special, it is only a
heuristic to enhance readability.

Postponed to next release as there were too many CWS/issues waiting for the OOo
2.3 release.

This issue is closed automatically and wasn't rechecked in a current version of
OOo. This fixed issue should be integrated in OOo since more than half a year.
If you think this issue isn't fixed in a current version (OOo 3.1), please
reopen it and change the field 'Target Milestone' accordingly.
