Description Unknown 2003-04-25 18:29:43 UTC
secant (sec), arcsecant (arcsec), cosecant (csc), and arccosecant (arccsc) are
not recognized by OpenOffice as functions. I realized this when I tried to type
up an integration identity (and so I cannot use 1/sin or 1/cos in place of csc
or sec, respectively). Changing "arc" to "Arc" still does not make a
difference. Why cotangent (cot) and arccotangent (arccot) are recognized and
not the others I cannot explain.

I checked the source in sw/starmath, and it was not listed in parse.cxx,
commands.src, smres.src nor these files in the initial import (v1.1), so this
should be happening on all existing versions and on all platforms. These are
real trigonometric functions, so they should be included. :)

A temporary fix for anyone who wants to file this bug but doesn't know how to
fix it, use quotes to surround the function and it'll look the same as if it
were recognized.

Sorry if this is a duplicate, but I can't seem to be able to work the search
function... I previously filed a bug report and then found it was a duplicate
among another 10+ reports, so I went back to search for some key description
words, but the search function still returned no hits.

Since those 4 functions are not that commonly used (there are other
notations for them) they do (currently) not have entries on their own.

If you like to have the correct typesetting you may use "func secant"
and the like for that purpose.

If you think this is not sufficient enought please label this a
"enhancement request" and than I'll pass this on to someone else for
decision about it.

Note: the quoting workaround does work only if the fonts for functions
and text are the same.

Since there are no further comments/request from the original
submitter I'll close this one.
