Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13648
'Title case' should also format the rest of the word to lowercase
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
Using "Format - Character - Font Effects - Effects - 'Title'": "example" (lowecase) -- becomes --> "Example" (Ok) "EXAMPLE" (uppercase) -- remains --> "EXAMPLE" "ExAmple" (mixed case) -- remains --> "ExAmple" Expected from the function title case is not: "format first letter of the word to uppercase" but: "format first letter of the word to uppercase AND the rest of the word to lowercase"
I have noticed this when correcting a word with two initial caps to title cawe: it doesn't work, since both letters stay capped up.
FME: That means a redefinition of our 'title case attribute'. We cannot change the current behavior of this attribute, since this would also affect any old document which uses this attribute. What we need instead is a new attribute for this. Therefore I'll change the issue type to 'Enhancement'. FME->BH: To you for evaluation.
In my opinion is does not make sense to transform words like e.g. OpenOffice via title case to Openoffice. In such a case it should keep the same. Due to the fact that changing the current behaviour means a changing of existing documents, that function should keep as it is.
