Description kelvine 2003-04-10 15:44:14 UTC
I would like to suggest adding the ability to have rich text in a Form Text
Box. (Note this is not RTF but rich text just like Writer, Html Editor or
even a Calc cell the user can edit and view.)

OO Forms only currently just provide a single font in the Form Text Box as far
as I can see.

The following is just an additional suggestion on how the data could be
stored. I would really like the ability to enter WYSIWYG text into a Form Text
Box but have the text stored as html. If I were to then view the text in the
data source window the field would simply appear to have html code in it. If
I viewed/edited it in a Form Text Box it would simply appear as the same as
you would see on a web page.

It know that some products store the text in rtf but to me html is a good
format. The developers may consider XML or some other format is more
appropriate and that is okay too.

My aim in doing this is to create forms which would provide uses most of the
preset text, but then the ability to add what they want with all the
formatting they would like. At the moment even bold or underline is not
possible.

Thanks

Kelvin

with issue 24385, I assume we can change this one here to "need the ability to
bind the rich text field to a database column" (which currently is not covered
in issue 24385), can't we?

Hi,

Quite funny actually. I read what I wrote in this enhancement request and not
once did I mention my main need was to have the Rich Text Control bound to a
field. How's that for making assumptions that people can read my mind!

So to clarify, I would like the ability to bind a Rich Text Control to field
(also referred to as a database column).

Thanks for pointing that out.

for the records:
having a "rich text" mode for form controls is possible with OOo 2.0, and
already available in the latest developer snapshots
(http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html). What's not possible is to store
this content in a database field.

I have downloaded RC2. When a text edit control is placed on a form and changed
to Multi-Line Formatted then it sitll will not accept any formatting. Even if I
paste formatted text, the formatting is removed.

I am using WinXP SP2.

I am not talking about even attempting to tie it to a column in the DB. Just
placing it on a Form in Base. The form toolbar is disabled and no keyboard
formtting shortcuts work either.

Is this issue still an open one?

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

that would be SO lovely for people who want an alternative to Mac/FMP...
