Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13172
Quickstart opens Writer on Systemlogon
Last modified: 2003-05-20 16:28:22 UTC
Issue: The quickstarter opens "Writer" on Systemlogon. This happens, if a user has NO administrator rights (Normal User). If the "Administrator" is the only user on this PC, the Problem doesn't appear. If there is a "Normal User" who activates the "Quickstart Functionality", this user gets always opened "Writer" on Logon. Also if this happens, a shortcut to the quickstart.exe in the "All Users" Dir is created, and since that, this behavier also happens on Administrator Logon. I only tested this Issue on W2K, so I don't know if it happens on Windows XP PC'S also, but I think so. Workaround: A workaround is this: Disable the "Load Open Office.org during System startup" tick in the Quickstart Utility. Open Regedit, and search the following tree: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Make a "String Value" (Zeichenfolge in Deutsch)and name it "Open Office Quickstarter" or something like that. Then give it the following value: X:\xxx\xxxx\xxx\program\quickstart.exe For the X's there must be entered the correct path to OO Of Course ;-) With regards, Cole Bantam / Salzburg / Austria
When using the latest internal build for an upcoming Staroffice 6.1Beta2, this problem doesn´t occur anymore. Therefor it won´t occur in a next OO version, matching SO6.1Beta, too. Be sure to have deinstalled and reinstalled the office versions properly to avoid having a mismatch of versions or old stale files on your system. The recent version(s) don´t put a shortcut to the quickstart.exe in the "All Users" Dir.
This task is fixed or worked in OOo 1.1 beta2.
