Description kaulisch 2003-04-02 19:52:40 UTC
I want to export a csv-file to dbf, but if I look at the dbf file within the
bibliography databse then my German Umlaute are gone.

The csv was imported to the spreadsheet with character set Latin1 Windows 1252,
but if I like to export it WinLatin1 is not chooseable.

I tried the character sets: International 850, ISO 8859-1 and 8859-15 as export
character sets; but it does not work - and OpenOffice is very slowly during the
export....

Hi Marc,

Field names with Umlauten in DBF are not supported.

Please attach a CSV File to show your problem.

Best regards

Frank

The procedure I want to do: Export from Asksam 5.1 to csv import in
OO spreadsheet and save as dbf (then use as bibliography database)
work in general
I did this last year with StarOffice 6 (SP 1) several times.

Hi Marc,

on saving the spreadsheet to dbase the encoding should be set to
'Western Europe (ISO-8859-15/EURO)' should do the trick. On changing
the table in the datasource administration dialog you should set the
Characterset on the tabpage DBase to 'Western Europe
(Windows-1252/WinLatin1)'. I've done this and it works perfectly.

So I have to set this one to WORKSFORME.

Best regards

Frank
