The following patch removes the interactive queries if a setting wasn't
found by configure. Instead of asking configure stopps with an error.

Without the queries it will be easier to implement the MinGW compiler into
the build environement.

Ken, ause: What do you think about removing the interactive part?

The patch is generated against cws_srx644_ooo20030412.

Applied all patches to the tree.  This cleanup has been overdue for a
while thanks.

I had to back out a couple of lines that broke linux, nothing major.
