Description issues@www 2001-07-20 03:36:30 UTC
Open Office 627 (binary download) installed on Intel Windows 98 machine.
oo627 (and Star Office 5.2 before it) fail to recognize
a change in Freeze (locking column titles so other cells
slide beneath them) from off-to-on or on-to-off
as a modification to the spreadsheet. The Save File icon
remains grayed-out.
In other spreadsheet programs (such as Corel Quattro Pro),
such a change is a saveable modification to the document.

The altered state of Freeze can be saved and should be
recognized when the spreadsheet is later re-opened.
If oo627 opens a StarCalc 5 file (.sdc), then the state of Freeze
is correctly recognized. But if it opens a Calc 6 file (.sxc),
the state of Freeze (on or off) is recognized, as indicated by
the checkmark in the Window menu, but the cells in the sheet
are unlocked, whether Freeze was on or off.

Hi Daniel,

Freeze is a view setting and wherefore you can have different freeze settings on
different windows of the same document. The freeze position of the last saved
document view will be restored on loading of the document.
It's a little different to Quattro Pro.

The saving of the freeze position works with OOo632 so this Issue is invalid.

Best regards

Frank

Using Scalc I found that setting a freeze on a window is no problem
(Window>Freeze) but saving it and (re-)loading I find these settings
gone. This is contrary to the findings writen here, reason to reopen
this issue. I hope I can attach my file to it.

Hi Pieter,

I cant reproduce your problems.

Your attached file opens with a freezing Line 1 and Column A.

So what's your problem ?

Best regards

Frank

Hi Frank,

Thanks for quick replying

When loading in SO 6 Beta the file is OK.

But using OOo 641 (c?) the freeze is gone. I also re-installed OOo but
still it doesn't work properly!

So it seems not to be the file and saving of the file but loading it
into OOo Scalc. Apart from this the file extension should be SXC
instead of SXW but this also doesn't matter also.

Could it be the build? Some *.ini? if so where can I find it? I will
try to download a new OOo 641c and do a re-install.

Regards,
Pieter

Hi Frank,

The problem has been removed of the system by:
- Download new Win32 OOo 641c
- Uninstall OOo
- Removing all left files in OOo directory (c:\program files\OOo)
- Reïnstalling 641c (in c:\progra~1\OOo) Intentionally left out
pathname with the space in it (c:\progam files)

Concluding: The error did leave my system and can be closed (?)

Pieter

Hello

In my opinion freeze is a change to the worksheet and should be saveable if it
is enabled or disabled.

And it should be renamed from 'window -> freeze' to 'worksheet -> fix' because:
1.) If you search here for freeze you get "OOo freezes on start,open,close,...)
2.) freeze = no action is possible (anymore)
3.) It is a setting that could be different for every worksheet, not for the
hole window

Menu
worksheet window
- fix - always on top
- sort - zoom
... ...

Checked for defect but not found anymore. Freeze does save to worksheet and can
be retrieved again. So no problems here anymore.

You're proposal for a new menu entry is perhaps another issue so please make an
enhancement request.
