Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 12842
data exchange between excel, OO, and gnumeric
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
I have transferred a spreadsheet from gnumeric to OO with some manual intervention to fix formulas and formats that did not transfer properly. Now I'm attempting to read the resulting .xls file produced by OO 1.1Beta into Excel. Excel 2000 crashes when one cell is selected. The formula in that cell is: =INDEX(Base;MATCH(Width;Widths;0);MATCH(Length;Lengths;0))*(1+CIndex) Where "Base" is defined as: $tables.$B$33:$tables.$R$42 Width is: CostEstimator.$H$6 Widths is: $tables.$A$33:$tables.$A$42 Length is: CostEstimator.$H$7 Length is: $tables.$B$32:$tables.$R$32 CIndex is: $CostEstimator.$E$5 I can supply the .xls file, but it does need to be treated as confidential data. I am also working with the gnumeric developers to see if we can resolve problems I've encountered from their side. I need to be able to share data with users of Excel and OO, but I presently prefer gnumeric for its speed and ease of use. Thank you, Matt
Hi Daniel, this seems to be your construction site. So I've assigned this one to you. Frank
Assuming ownership. Matt, I presume that this problem is a progression of the earlier issue 8821 that you submitted. If you can re-create the problem with that attached spreadsheet table-bug.xls, then please re-attach it here. I notice that all your stated variables exist except for CIndex.
I'd be glad to send the file to you directly, but I don't want it posted for public view in the issue list. I attempted saving the file as a 97/2000 template, that causes Excel 2000 to crash as soon as the sheet is opened. Thanks, Matt
received the doc from the submitter and will look into this reported problem.
Appears to be a result of Excel's poor handling of an erroneous formula. This formula resulted from a problem between gnumeric export and OO import.
I have got agreement with the submitter(Matt) that this issue is a result of invalid formula data on a particular sheet. But I need to close this with the correct status. Marking is as fixed, means that QA will want to know where the code fix is. The correct status is that is closed because it is invalid.
closing because it is invalid.
