Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 12775
Generic Printer cannot be deleted or renamed
Last modified: 2019-07-23 22:07:29 UTC
Summary says it. User cannot rename or delete Generic Printer via spadmin. There is a good geeky logic behind it; but the average user will fail to see it if he / she installs. It is neither written in the doc. It should be pointed out that root should install the printers. In order to delete the ugly Generic Printer, another one must be installed. This has still rough edges. Why not pop-up how to do it ("It seems you want to remove all printers. The program will not work without any printer [does it actually not?]. Please Add at least one printer before deleting the default one." M$ does similar. Or just leave a dummy printer lying around in the background, if one is actually needed; an invisible dummy: Let the users decide to remove all printers. If they feel like no printer at all let them look at an empty pool of printers.
TM->BH: This one is an enhancement, please have a look, thanks !
Set to "NEW"
Has this been worked on? In 1.1RC2 I can "rename" the printer. However, instead of renaming it, spadmin copies it to a new one. Very strange.
