Description piotrunio-2004@wp.pl 2017-12-02 07:49:01 UTC
My favorite font is Custom Font, and my favorite font size for Custom Font is 9. However, OpenOffice Calc by default fills the spreadsheet with Arial and size 10. Please have the option to use my favorite font and font size in spreadsheets by default.
Comment 1 Keith N. McKenna 2017-12-02 15:03:31 UTC
That is what templates are for. Create a a document with all the attributes that you want as your default, save it as a template then set that template as your default for calc. For more information read the help files or ask on either the user forum at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/ or on the user mailing list at mailto:users@openoffice.apache.org

But a similar issue still occurs: when you move cells, the left-over space will not use my favorite font.
Comment 3 Keith N. McKenna 2017-12-03 14:23:48 UTC
That is a problem with your template, not with AOO. I just created a new spreadsheet template saved it and set as default following the instructions in the help. It sounds like you just took an existing spreadsheet and set it as default without changing the font in all the cells.

This is a bug tracker not a help desk. Please address your question to either of the support venues mentioned in Comment 1.
Comment 4 piotrunio-2004@wp.pl 2017-12-05 19:23:48 UTC
I selected all and set it to Custom Font and size 9, saved it and set as default template. New table documents are now full of Custom Font and size 9, but when I move cells the left-over space is Arial and size 10.

Also what do you mean by AOO? AndrOpenOffice, the Android copy? I'm using Windows.
Comment 6 Peter 2017-12-06 08:46:59 UTC
AOO == Apache OpenOffice

Comment 11 piotrunio-2004@wp.pl 2018-04-20 17:08:13 UTC
So that means I have to use 2 templates?
Comment 12 Marcus 2018-04-20 19:45:14 UTC
Maybe as I don't know your environment and working style.
Comment 13 piotrunio-2004@wp.pl 2018-04-21 05:16:39 UTC
I assume when I add this template again, you will say I need a third template, then a fourth, and so on.
Comment 14 Peter 2018-04-21 06:40:42 UTC
I think that we do not understand your problem.

If you mark all cells with ctrl+a or a click in the upper left header where row number and headerline (the one that says A,B,C and so forth) meet, the selected font should change to blank.
Deselect the font you want.
From this moment on any new row should appear with the new font.

If that not happens check on hidden columns/rows.
Open them and then it should work.

For defaulting for all new documents you need to setup a template which is explained above. Then each new document will come with the preferred font.

I hope this solves the issue.

This video shows how OpenOffice Calc is creepy with my configurations:

Comment 17 Marcus 2018-04-21 09:49:45 UTC
I cannot see anything in the video, is it normal that everything is so dark? Also it looks somewhat broken in the middle and end.

Anyway, I think I've understood your problem. When you cut out cells, the formatting is automatically reset to system defaults which can be different to the font setting in the document.

Have you tried the font replacement function? Maybe it can help to keep a specific font (see menu "Tools - Options - OpenOffice - Fonts").

BTW:
Don't expect any further and detailed help when you are shouting at people. Yes, writing everything in uppercase (comment #8 and #9) *is* shouting.
Comment 18 piotrunio-2004@wp.pl 2018-04-22 05:11:13 UTC
The reason everything is so dark is because I have a dark theme on my PC. And the "middle and end" is not really "somewhat broken", it is intentionally distorted because it's creepy!

I was not able to reproduce what you described with AOO 4.1.5 and Win7.
A template set as default keep customized font with no problem.
Moving, deleting or copying range don't reset font as Arial.
