Units of Measurements changing

I have set my working units to millimetres. I did this by going to Tools->Options->OpenOffice Writer->General and changing the default inches to millimetres. After some random time, in the Properties window, measurements switch back to inches. I am too busy typing to see exactly when they change, but they do change. I return to Tools->Options->OpenOffice Writer->General to set back to millimetres, only to find millimetres is already selected, yet I have inches in my Properties window. I set to centimetres, hit okay, then return to set back to my preferred millimetres. Some time after, I find I'm dealing with inches again. I don't want inches--Australia has been metric since 1971 and I've grown up with it. If I could set metric as default, I would.
I cannot reproduce the issue. When changing it one time it stays changed. Please can you give us a step-by-step description what you have done to make it reproducible? > "... in the Properties window ..." Which one do you mean? What do we have to open? Thanks in advance.

Are you working much on the document in the meantime? I can't give you an accurate measure of how long it takes to flip 'back' to inches, because I'm working away on typing and am not paying attention to formatting (I'm writing a novel). > Please can you give us a step-by-step description what you have done to make > it reproducible? I have noticed this situation since my last upgrade, which was a while ago. I thought it might be a bug with the upgrade and am therefore patiently waiting for the next upgrade, but it is becoming a little annoying while I'm working on a longform project, so I figured flagging it with you guys to make sure if it is a bug somewhere within the program it can get fixed. I'm no computer expert, so I have no idea if perhaps there's something on this PC laptop that might be causing it, but I wouldn't know where to look. Something somewhere is telling OpenOffice to display inches, even though the settings reckon it's still in metric. Whenever I've had a serious crash (my laptop crashes sometimes), all my preferences are lost. The program returns to its default inches measure, so the first thing I'll do is re-customise all my preferences to how I prefer it to be, which includes A4 page size and milliemetres measure. Working away, everything seems fine. Then I sit back and re-read passages I've written only to find inches are displayed in the Paragraph section of the Properties Sidebar Deck. Also, the ruler at the top of my page has gone to inches, and Format Menu->Paragraph is displayed in inches. My page remains A4. So, I'll go into Tools Menu->Options->OpenOffice Writer->General and find under Settings my Measurement Unit is still millimetres. Clearly it's not, so I set it to something else (such as centimetre), hit "OK", then open up the OpenOffice Writer->General again and change back to millimetre. This is 'Properties' in the Sidebar Deck, where there is Text, Paragraph and Page. This is chiefly in the Paragraph settings, though I've noticed the ruler at the top of the page also changes. If there's any other information I can provide, please let me know.
Thanks for the update. However, I'm sorry I still cannot reproduce it. Also when changing to millimeters, the sidebar properties are showing this right after the Option dialog is closed. Please come back when there is a save procedure to reproduce this. Until then I'll put this to resolved.
