Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 126692
Grammatical error in the rotate function input field
Last modified: 2019-07-31 18:44:01 UTC
Created attachment 85164 [details] Screenshot for Oo Impress My current system hardware is as follows: Windows 10 Pro Intel Core i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz 8GB DDR3 1333 RAM Nvidia GeForce GPU Steps: 1. Open Oo Impress and create a new presentation. 2. Select a text box by clicking on its edge. 3. On the tab by the right hand side of the slide, drop down the "Position and Size" menu by clicking the "+" sign. 4. Highlight the rotation input field, type "1" and press enter. The input field changes the input "1" to "1 degrees" exposing a grammatical error. While this is evidently not a major issue that interferes with this great program's functionality, it could make a substantially-positive impact on both the product and OpenOffice’s image to the eyes of the user, by showing an impeccable attention to detail. It is also relatively easy to fix, either by adding a special condition that changes to "degree" for a singular integer (1), or by using the degree symbol (°) which would also save the space used to type the full “degrees” string, making the interface less cluttered and more pleasing to the eyes. This would also be more consistent with the rest of the fields on the tab which use the inch symbol ("). In addition, I compared it with Microsoft Powerpoint, and found that it used the degree symbol instead. Screenshot illustrating the issue on both programs are attached below.
