Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 12662
Ability to view embedded PDF when document is opened read-only
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:35:51 UTC
I opened a Microsoft Word document with an embedded PDF document in it. If the document is opened read-write, you can click on the embedded PDF object, and a pdf viewer window will open. However, this does not happen if the document is opened read-only. In MS Word, you can open the PDF object in both cases. The same behaviour is requested as an enhancement for OOo.
Could you verify please before forward it to BH.
The write-protected mode in OO is quite different from the one in MS Word. Thus a new mechanism must be implemented, if the user also wants to view the content of a PDF-OLE in a OO document. This is not only Writer-related, all OO-applications a affected.
