Description Unknown 2003-03-25 03:00:08 UTC
For chinese language, there are at least two forms: Simplifiled Chinese which
is used in mainland China, Singapore(which is a little different from the one
in mainland), and the complex form is used in Taiwan, Hongkong, etc.

MS words has the convertor icon for Chinese Version.
I think it's a necessary feature for a word processor to edit chinese.

And ususally one simplified chinese character maps to serveral complex ones, so
usually the conversion from complex to simplified has no problem but the
reverse process can't garantee its correctivity, so an addtional feature to
assign the right complex chinese character to the simplified one is also needed.

TL->SBA: A quick check shows that it works in OOo as well nowadays.
Please confirm and close.

SBA: Set to "Worksforme".
Please comment on your impression of the implementation of the "Chinese
Translation" feature.

To access it
 - enable CJK support
 - Have an editable Writer document with Chinese Text
 - Tools-Language-Chinese Translation
 - Select the "translation direction"
 - Edit the "common terms" if needed
 - Verify the translation outcome with your expectations

Please comment here. Thank you
