The document attached shows two problems with the pdf export  
function present in 1.1 beta (downloaded from the italian 
mirror): 
* the oo hatch is translated into a sequence of pdf commands 
  that slows down to a crawl Acrobat reader, it takes a long 
  time to load the document and show the filled squared (25 
  seconds here on a Pentium 1000Mhz laptop with acrobat 5.0) 
  The same document converted to pdf using the pdf converter 
  printer on Linux opens fine; 
* the image on the second page is completely ruined and  
  unreadable, using the pdf converter on linux provides 
  a decent image, althougth the quality could be better... 
  some control on image compression level would be nice
