Description hills 2014-08-06 15:50:35 UTC
Overview:

AOO 4.1.1 FVT Test Case Failed
   Test Case ID AOOTest-430 :: Version : 1
   Bullet and Numbering Sidebar_Consistent_SD

If you select a bullet type then open the context Bullets and Number dialog or go to Bullets in the sidebar, the cursor should focus on the selected bullet type. However, it doesn't.

Steps to Reproduce:

   1. Create a new Impress Document and input text into a paragraph
   2. In the sidebar panel, click the Bullets arrow and select a bullet type.
   3. Right click in paragraph and select Bullets and Numbering from context menu.
   4. Click Cancel.
   5. Select paragraph then click the Bullets arrow in the sidebar panel.
   6. Select More Options

Actual Results:

In steps 3, 5 and 6, the cursor is focused on the first bullet type.

Expected Results:

In steps 3, 5 and 6, the cursor should focus on the selected bullet type.

Build Date & Platform:

   Build: AOO411m4(Build:9774) - Rev. 1614049
          2014-07-28 17:55 - Linux x86_64
   OS: RHEL 6.5

Regression info:
The bug exists in AOO 4.1.0

Had to select v4.1.0 above because 4.1.1 is not listed.

Able to re-produce with:
4.1.1 A00411m6(Build:9775) – Rev.1617669
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

And

4.2.0 A00420m1(Build:9800) – Rev 1665722
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 32-bit

Steps I used to re-produce

The Bullets drop down menu in the Properties sidebar:

1.	File>New>Presentation, then create empty presentation from Presentation Wizard pop-up box.
2.	Click text that says “Click to add text”, in the work space.
3.	Type word “hello”.
4.	Select the Bullet Drop-down menu in the Properties sidebar, and select Circular Bullet.
5.	Select the Bullet Drop-down menu in the Properties sidebar again (Note the current bullet style is not selected) and no bullet style is selected.

In step 5 the user should see the current bullet style for the word “hello”.

The Bullets and Numbering dialog box.

1.	File>New>Presentation, then create empty presentation from Presentation Wizard pop-up box.
2.	Click text that says “Click to add text”, in the workspace.
3.	Type word “hello”.
4.	Right click the word “hello”, and choose Numbering/Bullets… from the pop-up menu.
5.	Choose Sold large circular bullets and click OK.
6.	Right click the word “hello” again, and choose Numbering/Bullets… from the pop-up menu. (Note no bulleted type is selected).

In step 6 the user should see the current bullet style for the word “hello”.

I could get the Bullet drop down menu to show the correct bullet style by following these steps:

1.	File>New>Presentation, then create empty presentation from Presentation Wizard pop-up box.
2.	Click text that says “Click to add text”, in the workspace.
3.	Type word “hello”.
4.	Select the Bullet Drop-down menu in the Properties sidebar, and select Circular Bullet.
5.	Using the Select Tool, select a square/rectangle around the word “hello”.
6.	Click the word “hello”.
7.	Select the Bullet Drop-down menu in the Properties sidebar again (Note the current bullet style is selected).

This test leads me to believe the feature was intended to work by showing the current bullet style.

In a comparable product Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 this feature shows the current bullet style selected.

Steps to test in MS PowerPoint:

The Bullets drop down menu

1.	Office button>New>Blank Presentation>Create
2.	Click text that says “Click to add subtitle”.
3.	Type word “hello”.
4.	Select Filled Round Bullets from the Bullets drop-down menu
5.	Select Bullets drop down-menu again, and Filled Round bullets are selected.

The Bullets and Numbering dialog box.

1.	Office button>New>Blank Presentation>Create
2.	Click text that says “Click to add subtitle”.
3.	Type word “hello”.
4.	Right click the word “hello” and scroll to bullets and choose Bullets and Numbering
5.	Choose Filled Round Bullets.
6.	Right click the word “hello” and scroll to bullets and choose Bullets and Numbering (You will see that Filled Round Bullets is selected)

Summary

I believe this feature was intended to work, as in the case of using the select tool, which seemed to trigger the program to work appropriately. This issue should be fixed because in a comparable product (MS PowerPoint 2007), this feature worked without an issue during this test.

I used AOO 4.1.2 and Ubuntu Linux 15.10.
I was able to reproduce the defect partially.
From the description :
Steps 3 and 6 were reproducible.
But in Step 5 the cursor focused on selected bullet type.
