Description jotielmann 2014-05-26 15:47:39 UTC
in version 4.1.0 it is not possible to access to the thunderbird adress-book.
error message: HY000 SDBC driver for URL not found.

In version 4.0.1 it works with the same SDBC-Drivers in the repository.

See attachment.

I am going back to version 4.0.1

This functionality has been removed, it is documented in the release notes

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1+Release+Notes#AOO4.1ReleaseNotes-SeamonkeyreplacedbyNSS%28%22NetworkSecurityServices%22%29

It should be documented under "Removed/Retired Features"...

No, it's documented under "Improvements"!

Support for _any_ proprietary address books and LDAP seems to have been removed. Remarkable in a package designed to do mail merge.

Can we expect this support to be restored soon? If not, at least can the documentation be updated and the Address Data Source Wizard be removed to avoid confusion?

This is a very important issue for me, and I miss the integration greatly.

For the documentation, see Issue 124186
For the Address Data Source Wizard, see Issue 124183

I would dearly like to see address book access reestablished, especially for Thunderbird. The combination of Mozilla and Open Office has been cheap(free!), and sane and consistent for me over many years and now I need to access my address book (new business, mail contacts, invoices, etc) I can not. Disappointing.

Since OpenOffice 4.1.0 there is no access to the database of the thunderbird address book.
But it is possible to export the thunderbird address book to a *.csv-file and read this file using OpenOffice Calc.

Thank you. However, I was about to contruct a database of clients and invoicing functions via Base, integrated with Thunderbird. It would be good if this functionality were still there.
Thank you again for the .csv comment. Good to know. But better if there was integration.

Together with LibreOffice 5.0.4 it works fine. Due to the change in OpenOffice I was urged to go for LO. The client of mine is not able to work via CSV files (technical not that experienced). I would appreciate if AOO could implement this interface again.
