Description oooforum (fr) 2014-04-17 13:45:03 UTC
In case of a large table, mouse click is not a easy way to select a column.
It will be better to have a keyboard shortcut like Alt + C (or another one).

If I try to customize by myself this shortcut, selection works but the cursor jump to first line.

What is not easy with right click - Column - Select?
If entire column is selected what is the problem with cursor in first cell?
Comment 2 Regina Henschel 2014-04-17 14:41:16 UTC
Selecting the current row or column has a button in the table toolbar, an item in the menu Table, and in the context menu of the cell. It is a .uno command, that can be easily assigned to a shortcut. So I see no issue here.

But the behavior, that the cursor jumps to the first cell or row respectively, is uncomfortable for very long tables. This behavior exists since version OOo2, version OOo1 had jump to last cell.

As each issue should only cover one problem, I keep the annoying cursor jump and change the summary accordingly.

It is a valid enhancement request.

I'm not sure this is an enhancement.
The jump to the heading helps user verify the correct column was selected.
I can't think of a situation where a column is selected and cursor in specific cell is required.

No, if your table is on several pages. You lose the cell where you are.
Like Regina said, it's very annoying.

Well, if you input datas and want to align or change format for an entire column.
