Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124226
Resizing a color palette window beyond certain size causes OO crash in Win7
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:01:08 UTC
Created attachment 82572 [details] Steps to reproduce OO Color Palette Window Resize bug In Calc, Writer, Draw: Resizing color palette window causes OO crash and OS freeze. Win7x64. 'color palette box', meaning the color picker window that appears if press 'Font Color' or 'Background color' toolbar button in Calc, or 'Font Color' button in Draw or Writer. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Calc (for example) 2. Click toolbar button for Background color. A color palette window titled "Background" appears. 3. Grab a corner of the color window to resize it into a very wide short rectangle. For example, grab the lower right corner, and drag simultaneously RIGHT and UPWARD to try to make it the shape of a toolbar - as wide as you can. Then resize it again, this time in the other direction (down, left) see attached image Expected behavior: If user tries to exceed a window's size limits, window should stop responding to the resize attempt. Actual behavior: 1. OpenOffice crashes: a "OpenOffice Document Recovery" window appears saying "Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice crashed. All the files ... will now be saved ...". 2. The OS freezes so that nothing on the screen responds - none of the open app windows, desktop icons, or taskbar buttons - not even the OK button on the recovery window works. Have to ctl+alt+del to kill soffice.exe via Windows Task Mgr. p.s. 'minor' severity since steps to reproduce seem highly unlikely.
Probably a DUP of "Bug 123690 - CRASH when decreasing color picker vertical size too much" @reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you find evidence that we have an independent issue here (for example because the fix for the other bug does not work for you). *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of issue 123690 ***
