Description t8m 2003-03-15 09:55:41 UTC
If I export file to the CSV format in for example czech language the export is
wrong. The default delimiter character for CSV is comma. But the comma character
is used as a decimal dot in the czech language.

Solution: Either change the default CSV delimiter character to for example ';'
if the number decimal dot is comma or when exporting CSV file change the decimal
dot to dot character regardless of the language.

Hi Tomas,

as CSV is a defined file format, we can't change the default settings.

But have you tried to set the encoding regarding your language ? Also
just change the delimiter settings on saving the document. If you save
the document the first time to CSV format, the mentioned dialog box
opens by default. If not, please use the Save as ... Dialog and tag
the checkbox Edit Filtersettings. This should give you the above
mentioned dialog after entering an valid document name and pressing
the Ok button.

So I have to close this as Invalid.

Best regards

Frank

invalid

OK, I agree you can't change the default delimiter character.
However the czech localized version of Microsoft Excel exports .csv
files with decimal comma in numbers and semicolon ';' as field
delimiter. This is certainly easily achievable by the user change of
the delimiter character as you suggest.

But the other suggestion to change the language specific decimal comma
to the (english) default dot character in numbers during the export of
CSV file is I think legitimate enhancement request. This isn't easily
achievable (only by selecting the appropriate numeric fields and
change their language).
