We have many open bugs, that seems to be assigned to people that are no longer active in AOO, these bugs should be set back to default. This will enable us to get an overview of which (how many) are actual being dealt with.

MAybe we should consider an automated mechanism, where a bug that has not been touched for e.g. a year is changed back to unassigned.

Sounds like a good idea. 1 year should be enough to show any activity. Otherwise we can IMHO really assume that there is no progress for the respective issues.

I've reset all assignees to "issues@openoffice.apache.org" for issues older than 2015-12-31 and with status UNCONFIRMED, CONFIRMED, ACCEPTED, REOPENED.
